Overview
Restaurant owners and operators have requested the ability to set "double point days" in their loyalty system. Our admin dashboard does not currently support the restaurant setting those days themselves. They contact us directly to set up those dates. This is in development as of February 2021!
Problem
Currently, restaurants tell us when they want a "double points day" to be scheduled in their loyalty program. The backend team has to manually determine a "double point day" for restaurant's reward systems.
Hill Statement
βThe Lunchbox Admin Dashboard will be allow restaurants to schedule "double point days" at their leisure. The onboarding and backend teams will no longer be involved.
What does success look like?
βRestaurant owners and operators will no longer contact support to schedule special "double point days." They will use the admin dashboard to schedule it themselves. We expect the same amount of "double point days" to be scheduled if not more
Key Questions
πͺ Does anything trigger a customer receiving double points or is it automatic?
πͺ Do we name the promotion days?
πͺ Does the restaurant location matter?
πͺ Do the double point days repeat?
πͺ If they repeat, at what duration?
πͺ Is the points multiplier editable or stuck at double?
πͺ Is the only type or reward a multiplier or can it be a set number of additional points? (ex. extra 50pts)
πͺ Do we show expired double point days?

Creating V1
I presented this screen (along with a few others) in a sprint kickoff to get the teams ideas flowing. I intentionally put in every feature I could think of and encouraged the team to cut back. My questions above were quickly answered by the onboarding team or brainstormed upon by the group.
MVP - Home Screen UI
βWe determined that there are two types of loyalty we would like to tackle, sign up and point multiplier promotions. The home screen would show active sign up and active/scheduled multiplier promotions.
MVP -Creating Multiplier Promotion
βTo kickoff the multiplier promotion process, the user would select "Multiplier", the amount, if it repeats, and start/end date. We decided on the repetition to be never, weekly, or monthly for the MVP.
MVP -Creating A Sign Up / Sign In Promotion
To create a sign up promotion, the user simply chooses sign up, the reward type ($$$ or points) and the reward amount. There is no start and end date to the sign up reward since it does not expire.
Reflection
βComing into a sprint with rough ui is unbelievably helpful in getting my ideas across. This was quick fix that solves a problem for both our internal team and users. One of the most difficult parts was deciding how often double points days should repeat since loyalty looks so different for every restaurant. The real key to success in this project was how to make something basic enough to fit many loyalty structures while not being too difficult on the backend.
